Meet Our Writers Week 23 on Scape

 Tell us about yourself.

- I think of my life as a set of unfolding chapters and this particular chapter appears to be about exploring the wonders of words by creating small pieces, small stories.  Other events in this chapter include teaching, talking, walking, family, friends, etc.  no biggies.. just little moments here and there.

Tell me about your blog(s), name(s), what does it mean to you?

- My blog is called 'scapelines'.... landscapes, seascapes, escaping... whatever scape feels appropriate at the moment.  It might also be scraping through, scraps of thought, even crepes suzette.  (http://scapelines.blogspot.com)

What's the theme(s) of your blog(s)? What do you write most? poetry, fiction or novel, or  short stories?

 - I've always been intrigued by vignettes... those small moments that tell an entire story; those moments of serendipity where things simply come together in unexpected ways.  My blog is called "A collection of small thoughts" and focuses on these.

Other writings:  I've been editing a community magazine for some four years: writing interviews, specialty pieces.    I've also completed part one of a collection of family tales... stories from the various generations. Everything is a work in continuing progress.

What are the inspirations of your writing?

- For my blog (fairly new, just since July  - 2011)... I've mostly been posting things written in reaction to word prompts on 'Sunday Scribbling'.  Somehow having a trigger of a word is just great fun... waiting to see what little piece appears as a result.  For my other writing, the challenge is telling the story so the individual is there, rather than me.

You are involved with Bluebell Books Short Story Slam writing challenge? How do you feel about it so far? What's the benefits of it?

- Actually this is my next adventure... experimenting with slightly longer pieces, using Bluebell Books writing challenge as inspiration. As I mentioned, my current focus is on moments of serendipity... the Bluebell prompts provide a challenge, setting a theme for me to create the moment around.  Perhaps that is the magic... an anonymous prompt combining with my thoughts, memories, and ideas for unexpected pieces.

Any tips for those who started blogging and wish to become successful in it.

As Yoda says...." There is no try.  There is only do."

And as my mate would say: "Life is an adventure, so go live it!"

Cheers!

Scape
