Meet Our Writers Week 33 on Janaki Nagaraj

 Tell us about yourself

I am Janaki Nagaraj, a homemaker residing in Mumbai, India. I am a mother of two teenagers...but this is just the basic identification of me. I am more than this- fun loving, a dreamer, sometimes stubborn and many times emotional. A kind word can move me to tears and some times even an excruciating physical pain cannot make me cry. Am a bit of this and bit of that, imperfection at its best!

Tell me about your blog(s), name(s), what does it mean to you?

My blog is called "Memoirs of a homemaker" and so it is my private diary, it is about my life and events, it is about the little things that touch me and make me what I am. I share all that can be shared.  There was a time when I really wanted to have a career but, I love what I am doing...no regrets.

When have you started blogging?

All through my adult life, I had nurtured the dream of writing. But,  nothing substantial came out till the previous year, When the time is right, things just fall in place and here I am. This is something which I could not have conceived even in my wildest dreams. I just ventured out off my comfort zone and tada...life took a beautiful turn.

What's the theme(s) of your blog(s)? What do you write most? poetry, fiction or novel, or  short stories?

My son is just 13 yrs old and full of mischief. He is constantly giving me stories to write. Lately, I have been doing poetry a lot, for various blog sites. I am a sucker for challenges and when presented with a prompt the mind is on an overdrive and I will breath easy only when I have completed the task. Poetry is challenging as you express yourself in few words.

What are the inspirations of your writing?

Everything from nature, love , pain, music and laughter inspires me. One can weave words just around anything.

Does music impact your writing?

Music plays a huge part in my life, not just my writing.

You are involved with Bluebell Books Short Story Slam writing challenge? How do you feel about it so far? What's the benefits of it?

BB short story...is a nice platform to explore the various topics of writing. The prompts make us stretch our limits , a nice platform to showcase our talent and meet the like minded people with varied views on same topic. It is quiet interesting.

Do you have a favorite blogging friend(s) to share? Tell us about his/her blog link and the writing in it!

Paulo Coelho has been a source of inspiration for me. I like to read all inspirational writers and yes, sometimes I like to read a simple mushy love story. It sort of keeps the dreams alive. Serious stuff bores me.

Do you have a favorite book or author?

I started writing for the passion of it. When we write from our heart, being true to our feelings, the sincerity is reflected in our writings and people will certainly identify with that. Success in not about the number of followers you have but, it is about how you have impacted the life of your reader. If I have managed to touch even one person, then I am worth reading.

Any tips for those who started blogging and wish to become successful in it. What's your writing plans in the near future?

I have no major plans for now. I am quiet fine with what I am doing. Blogging takes up a lot of my time and I would like to be there for my family too.  Who knows what the future has in store for me.... I love surprises!
