Meet Our Writers Week 30

Tell us about yourself

I like to see myself as a social commentator, with poetry as a means of expressing my thoughts.  I am always interested in what goes on in my environment and feel a sense of duty to speak out  where I feel a voice is needed to be heard. The serious stuff aside I am fun loving free spirited and I do like writing humorous and romantic poems I take what my surrounding give me and write it in reflective form, to share with the rest of the world I hope to reach more and more people with my thoughts and poetry, so share if you like it. I am a Ghanaian Brit based in Bristol, UK.  which is full of ideas and culture. It is a very free minded city, which fosters individuality and originality as well as social cohesion.

Tell me about your blog(s), name(s), what does it mean to you?

My blog is happily named Kodjo Deynoo Poetry (K.D) and poetrysoundbites as the domain name. The first part of the name in effect tells everyone coming to my blog whose blog it is.  I am the soul author hence I name the blog after myself.
Plus I found such a title soft and personal to enable my readers to relate to.
The domain name, poetrysounbites, really describes what I do on my blog, snip-its of ideas and comments with an ideology and a conciseness message behind, which is meant to thought provoke the reader to generate a reaction, mostly a positive reaction I hope.
I am driven by my passion and my understanding of aspects of society and an observation of the human endevour be it social
personal or political. To find others who share such ideology by comments they leave on my blog I find is rewarding

When have you started blogging?

I started blogging in 2009  after try myspace and another blog account I decided to settle with my current blog which I have been running sense 2009.

What's the theme(s) of your blog(s)? What do you write most? poetry, fiction or novel, or  short stories?

I write a combination of short stories and poetry, trouble is once I start writing I find myself being carried away, so most
of my poems are a bit long, but they are constantly filled with essence hence a reader is never bored.  Tell me next time you feel bored I will take note of it :)

What are the inspirations of your writing?

Well my environment is my inspiration and people and characters I come in contact with. I like to be aware of
what goes on around me and in the world, so I am influenced by current world affairs as well. On a lighter note
I write to excite my readers and keep them entertained so the more readership I get the more I write.

Does music impact your writing?

Hugely, music art and poetry are from the same tree of understanding and emotion. A painting can tell a story, the same can be said about music, to me poetry is just a summary of these two forms of expression, which is used to trigger human emotion.

You are involved with Bluebell Books Short Story Slam writing challenge? How do you feel about it so far? What's the benefits of it?

I feel Bluebell gives writers the needed uplift. Writers block is every writers nightmare so it helps when Bluebell provides the incentive for a reader who is short on ideas to find a new target to work from. Providing the communal environment for writers to share and be exposed to other writers is also very important I feel privileged to be associated with Bluebell and be given the opportunity through this interview to contribute further to the common course.

Do you have a favorite blogging friend(s) to share? Tell us about his/her blog link and the writing in it!

And Claudihttp://jaywalkingthemoon.wordpress.com/ would have to be giving me a cheque soon, for mentioning their names, but I enjoy their work so it is worth mentioning

Derek Haines http://www.derekhaines.ch/vandal/ is another person worth mentioning, of course there are a few more I can list but for now I would just stick with these three

Do you have a favorite book or author?

Pablo Neruda, Dan Brown and John Grisham one can not go wrong with these three.

Any tips for those who started blogging and wish to become successful in it.

Well lets see, keep posting regularly on your blog, make sure it is original articles and be prepared to have your partner complain that you spend too much time on your blog. But if you are patient about it, don't let anyone discourage you the reward is never an overnight phenomenon and I am still working on it, so buckle down and just enjoy writing. The biggest reward you will get is for a complete stranger to feel moved enough to leave a comment on your blog, money doesn't come in as a motivation. I don't know anyone making money from blogging …
What's your writing plans in the near future?

Hope I find the write agent and publisher soon. I am about reader to bust out of this prison lol. Just keep writing more and more
and increasing my readership.
