Meet Our Writers Week 21:Becky Sain
Tell us about yourself:
I
am Becky Sain. I am a single mother to 3 children. I have worked in the
public schools as an Autism Specialist for 20 years (Yikes!) and I
absolutely love my career. I started writing poems and other thoughts as
a child but was too shy to share -- that all changed as I entered into
the blogging world!
Tell me about your blog(s), name(s), what does it mean to you?
My blog is First Pages ( http://bsain.wordpress.com/
). As a "closet writer" for so many years, I had started many stories
but never finished them -- I thought First Pages would be an appropriate
name because I can, as a blogger, have all the first pages of stories
that I want.
When have you started blogging?
I
started my blog in October of 2009, shortly after my mother's death as a
way to sort out the many stages of grief that I was experiencing.
What's the theme(s) of your blog(s)? What do you write most? poetry, fiction or novel, or short stories?
On
First Pages, I write about life and death and love and loss and all the
emotions that envelope us as complicated beings. I write poetry and
prose and short fiction -- I always try to write what I'm feeling in my
heart.
What are the inspirations of your writing?
My stories
and thoughts all seem to come from a place of investigation -- trying
to figure out my place in my own life. I write about what I see and what
I feel.
Does music impact your writing?
Yes, of course. I love to listen to music and have a habit of Googling for lyrics so I know exactly what is being said.
You
are involved with Bluebell Books Short Story Slam writing challenge?
How do you feel about it so far? What's the benefits of it?
I
so appreciate all the feedback and inspiration I receive from the
participants at BlueBell, finding you all has really affected my life.
Do you have a favorite blogging friend to share? Tell us about his/her blog link and the writing in it!
I have so many blogs that I obsess over, but if I had to narrow it down I would have to say:
1) Zebra Sounds ( http://zebrasounds.net/
) written by Judy Clement Wall. It's difficult to pin down Judy to a
certain type of writing except to say, she's always inspirational and
always worthy of adoration.
2) Lisa Bonchek Adams ( http://lisabadams.com/ ) writes about her life in a way that is both poetic and inspirational. If you haven't visited her, you must go now!
Do you have a favorite book or author?
So many! "To Kill A Mockingbird" (of course), Harry Potter (no I am not ashamed!), Ann Patchett, Mary Oliver, on and on and on!!
Do you have a favorite quote?

Any tips for those who started blogging and wish to become successful in it.
Don't think about being successful, think about writing for the joy of writing, the rest will come.
What's your writing plans in the near future?
To continue to write from my heart and hopefully develop a collection of short stories and poetry.
