Such fun indeed! The photo has already inspired the makings of a poem for me. Thank you for the invite to participate, Bluebell.

A favorite John Wayne quote on courage came to mind. I posted a previously written piece, which is not exactly a direct take on the picture, but it has to do with strength and courage (and it's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this weeks picture!) Thanks for sharing such a great image!

Thanks for the invite, Bluebell.

Thanks for the invite. I was not going to do this at first. But then humor hit me and said why not.

A fun example to start a story. What would the Duke do? He got lost in the ending of my story.

Nadira Cotticollan said...

Haven't seen any John Wayne movies and the poem is not about him. So John Wayne fans , please don't get offended:-)

I haven't seen any John Wayne films except "The Quiet Man" either...and my story is not about Wayne...but I got as close as I could with a story I wrote a week or two earlier. Hopefully it works for ya.

This is very cool. I hadn't seen this before. So do I write a poem or story and then put up the link when it's done. Or do I sign up ahead of time and then start browsing entries on a certain day?

Unknown said...

Angela,

after you post your entry, link it here, or you can link your general link first, post later, we can find it when we comment,

welcome in!

Interesting idea, but since Blogger is having so many issues with commenting I will have to pass on the invitation. Good luck.

Unknown said...

What a great idea. I don't have time this week to do it but I will sign up for sure in a future week.

Grew up loving John Wayne. He was always my hero.
This was a lot of fun, Hell Yeah! :)

I went into this one blind as a bat! I know virtually nothing about the wild west/cattle ranch genre so I just bottled it and scribbled the first thingg that came into my head. Haha I sucked at this one!

Well, I've given this a shot though I admit I worked not so much with the picture but the iconic figure's familiar nickname...

I too chose to write about my thoughts this image brought to mind, rather than the big JW himself. I hope it works with the theme. :-)

LOVED the one by Nandini Hebbar. Kudos!
